HandUp Community Partner: Raphael House in San Francisco

We’re so excited to have Raphael House as part of our growing community partner network. Raphael House began as an emergency shelter for mothers and children in 1971, opening as the first homeless shelter for families in Northern California in 1977. Started by an incredible group of volunteers, today Raphael House incorporates volunteers into all areas of their work - a group of over 2,000 each year. This organization continues to focus on providing personal family-centered solutions to help at-risk families achieve stability. With 85% of the program’s families moving forward with stable housing and financial success, there is no doubt Raphael House is making a true impact.

Visit the Raphael House Partner Page to get to know their HandUp members like The Pacheco Family. Silvia and Juan, born in Peru, have two beautiful children that were born here in the US. Juan has US citizenship, and Silvia was just approved! There is just one more step to go - part of the process requires her to fly back home to Peru and the family needs help funding this critical trip. Learn more about The Pacheco family and how you can give them a HandUp here.

This partnership has allowed Raphael House families to receive additional support to either transition into housing, assist with their employment path, or provide something special to their child. It is wonderful to have a partnership that allows us to meet the specific needs of each family. We are incredibly grateful for your contributions. As an agency that is 100% privately funded, we could not do our work without the incredible support of the community.
