Breathing is something that most of us take for granted - but not Wanda.
Suffering from severe COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and emphysema, among other serious ailments, she uses up to four inhalers, steroids and antibiotics every day - just to be able to breathe.
Being homeless for the last 10+ years and on disability, Wanda needed a humidifier to help her condition, she couldn’t just go out to the store to get one. So she turned to the HandUp community, and you guys delivered. Within just a few short weeks, she got the device that she so desperately needed.
Wanda posted the picture seen above after her case manager helped her to purchase the humidifier. She reports that her condition has been improving steadily. Thank you to Diane and the anonymous donor for your contributions toward helping her meet her goal. We’re constantly amazed at how small items like a humidifier can make such a big impact in someone’s life.
Today, Wanda has a new fundraising goal. Her sister, who she hasn’t seen since 1983, was recently hospitalized in critical condition, and Wanda would like to visit her before she passes away. She can’t afford the $500 train ticket to Pittsburg on her own, and is turning to the HandUp community once again for your help. If you’d like help Wanda visit her ailing sister, please visit her profile page in order to make a donation. Thank you!
