HandUp Announces $100k Bay Area Fundraising Challenge Sponsored by Google.org
San Francisco, CA - Locally-based online fundraising platform HandUp.org is launching a holiday giving challenge with $100,000 in prizes going to Bay Area human service organizations. The competition is sponsored by Google.org and will officially launch on Giving Tuesday, November 28, 2017, and last throughout the holiday season. HandUp welcomes human service nonprofits to launch fundraising campaigns on handup.org and compete for a variety of matching prizes to be announced in the coming months.
To date, Google.org, Google’s philanthropic arm, has granted $750,000 to HandUp for a variety of matching campaigns that have impacted over 50 Bay Area nonprofits and over 11,000 people experiencing poverty. “By supporting HandUp, Google.org has been able to help empower an organization working to tackle local poverty, one of the most pressing issues of our region. We value HandUp’s innovative approach and use of technology and are excited to support more local nonprofits through this matching challenge," says Adrian Schurr, Bay Area Program Manager for Google.Org.
“We’ve had a big impact so far with funds from Google.org, and we think this competition will bring even more attention to our amazing nonprofit partners who are working so hard to tackle important issues like homelessness, housing, and mental health services in the Bay Area,” says Sammie Rayner, Co-Founder and COO at HandUp.
