Case Study: How Project Homeless Connect Raised Over $170k with HandUp

Project Homeless Connect (PHC) brings together services and resources for San Francisco’s homeless population - to date reaching over 45,000 homeless and at-risk individuals. Every Day Connect is PHC’s day-to-day program, making connections to those hard-to-access resources, services, and goods that are the necessary elements to move an individual out of poverty. Though often many needs are overlooked by the current systems of care, needs that can dramatically impact a person’s situation.

In 2013, PHC launched a pilot with HandUp and in 9 months raised over $50,000 of flexible resources to help meet their clients’ needs. Just over one year later on HandUp, PHC raised $179,161 to meet 2,001 needs of 257 people.

Today PHC has an expansive partnership with HandUp to provide their team with a multifaceted tool that empowers their clients to advocate for themselves, while creating a new source of flexible funding that furthers the organization’s impact.
