Our First Major Funding Milestone: $850K Seed Round Closed!

We are thrilled to announce we’ve hit our first major funding milestone as a company, closing a seed round of $850k. Our initial investors are a group we are excited to work alongside, their experience spanning technology, social good and urban impact.

With Jason Calacanis kicking things off, our round also includes Boris Wertz of Version One Ventures, 1776, SV Angel, Urban.us, Cyan & Scott Banister, Arjun Banker, Marc Benioff, Michael Birch, Ron Conway, Karl Jacob, Thomas McInerney, Alexis Ohanian, Leah Pearlman, Ariel Poler, Eric Ries, Kathy Salmanowitz, Scott Wainner, as well as our incubator Tumml, which is focused on urban impact startups.

This seed round enables us to charge forward, full steam ahead. We’ll use these funds to expand our community partners in cities across the US, providing even more members with the support and services they need to get out of poverty and life on the streets. We’ll also be adding to the HandUp team to support our partner, member, and donor growth.

46 million Americans - 40% of those being children - are living below the poverty line, and 3.5 millions Americans experience some degree of homelessness. Tackling elements of this issue is not an easy task but we’re motivated by the validation of this seed round and excited to contribute our technology as a new tool in the fight against poverty.

Thanks to all of our remarkable community - our donors, partners, members, and fans - for all of your support. Learn more about the company here.
